What is Keto Diet?

The Keto diet or ketogenic diet (or keto diet, for short) is a low carb, high fat diet that offers many health benefits. Weight loss and improved health are just some of the benefits.

It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called Ketosis.

Ketosis is a state in which your body is highly efficient at  burning fat for energy. 

Explain Keto Diet

Keto diet can cause significant reductions in blood sugar and insulin levels. 

The ketogenic diet is a very low carb, high fat diet that shares many similarities with the low carb diets.

What is Ketosis?

Ketosis occurs when you significantly reduce your consumption of carbohydrates, limiting your body’s supply of glucose (sugar), which is the main source of energy for the cells.

Generally, this involves limiting carb consumption to around 20 to 50 grams per day and filling up on fats, such as fish, eggs, nuts, and healthy oils.

It’s also important to moderate your protein consumption. This is because protein can be converted into glucose if consumed in high amounts, which may slow your transition into ketosis. 

With intermediate fasting you can also help with Ketosis.

Measure Ketosis

With a blood, urine, and breath tests you can measure the amount of ketones produced by your body, which can help determine whether you’ve entered ketosis.

Including increased thirst, dry mouth, frequent urination, and decreased hunger or appetite can be an indicator, that you entered ketosis. 


A ketogenic diet is an effective way to lose weight and lower risk factors for disease, as high blood pressure or high blood sugar. 

This diet is so popular, because you feel so full, that you dont have any cravings.

Studies show, that keto diet is more effective than low carb diets in a long term run.

You feel less hunger and less craving.

Keto Diet can have benefits of different health conditions as: 

  • Heart disease
  • Cancer
  • Epilepsy
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Alzheimer’s disease

What you should not eat on a Keto diet

You should not consume this products, if you want to have to maximum of benefits out of your keto diet: 

  • grains or starches
  • sugar
  • beans or legumes
  • fruits (only berries and strawberries)
  • unhealthy fats
  • alcohol
  • sugar-free diet foods

Foods that you can eat

  • fatty fish
  • eggs
  • butter
  • cheese
  • healthy oils
  • avocados
  • nuts and seeds
  • low carb veggies and fruits
